Photography has been a large part of Joe Moreno’s life starting from the age of 5 when his father shared with him the magic of watching “white” photographic paper turn into a photo.

Joe was school photographer at Newtown High School in the 80’s using a PENTAX K1000 camera , but it wasn’t until the early 90’s when he became a partner in a second hand camera shop in Sydney that he rediscovered the joy of photography via a “mint” condition Olympus OM1 fully manual camera. Developing his own work shot on ILFORD B/W 400 film brought back his enthusiasm for that white paper magic again!

In 1995 Joe joined PAXTONS to help develop their new DIGITAL camera section, involved in buying, marketing and selling these new “filmless” cameras. A digital course offered by Paxtons was written by Joe and is still being updated and presented by him today.

In May 2006 a new chapter in Joe’s life started when he established Smarter Digital which offers training and tuition on all things photographic. Clients who have used his services include companies like OLYMPUS, SONY and currently CANON, teaching Australia-wide the finer points of digital photography to CANON customers. He has run corporate workshops for companies like Wyeth, Cumberland Newspapers and the Government Rail Safety Commission to teach staff how to use cameras effectively for their respective needs for documentation and reporting.

He also presented “The Photography Show” on Radio 2GB with Murray Whilton.

With a presence on social networks, FACEBOOK and Twitter, he helps keep his followers in touch with any new information about digital photography and all its wonderful ability to take us to areas we didn’t think possible
